Jerry Sobel, M.D.

Dr. Jerry Sobel is a board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician (also known as a Physiatrist) that specializes in pain management and sports medicine/non operative orthopedics. He also performs EMG examinations which are helpful in the evaluation of such things as carpal tunnel syndrome and sciatica. Dr. Sobel believes in small office settings and one on one interactions with his patients. Therefore at Sobel Spine and Sports we not use physician assistants or nurse practitioners.

Dr. Sobel focuses on non-opioid alternatives to pain management and he does not ascribe to the practice of long term use of narcotics to managing a person’s chronic pain.

Dr. Sobel, aka Dr. Jerry (he has two brothers that are family practitioners named Larry and Bruce) was trained at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C. In his senior year he served as the chief resident. His first job after he completed his training was at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio TX. From there his quest for knowledge and expertise in the evaluation and treatment of those with chronic musculoskeletal problems took him to Boston, Dallas, San Francisco and finally Phoenix, AZ. He has been on staff and practiced at New England Baptist and Brigham and Women Hospitals in Boston, University or Texas Southwest Medical Center in Dallas and Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.

Dr. Sobel opened his practice in Phoenix in April of 2010 and has very much enjoyed working and living in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. He is an avid cyclist and the proud owner of two wonderful French Bulldogs named Tiger and Rocko.
